Twins faithful breathed a collective sign of relief upon learning that Johnny Lockdown avoided a major injury fielding a bunt last week. An MRI revealed no structural damage to the knee, but a knee sprain will keep Lockdown out of action for a couple weeks. Fortunately, he will have a week to tune up before the playoffs.
In Lockdown's absence, the Twins will likely just roll with 11 pitchers and let the other guys get a little some extra work. Also, given the rest of the pen has nearly as many saves as Lockdown this year, they will just go with closer by committee while he is out. They will miss Lockdown's 0.68 ERA, but they should survive.
