Pistorius Back in the Saddle

Postby MINTwinsGM » Tue Nov 22, 2016 5:59 pm

After being relegated to AAA for 2060, Oscar Pistorius has really seized the opportunity presented to him by the Twins organization in 2061.

Oscar was dealt to the White Sox in the midst of a miserable 2059 season, but the Twins re-acquired him to kickoff the 2060 offseason. In camp, it was clear he had not re-found his swing, so with Joltin Joe in the house it was a pretty easy decision to send him to AAA to figure it out. He had a huge year in AAA in 2060, but never got the opportunity to contribute to the ML club. In 2061, it seemed like it could have been more of the same. However, when Jamile Fields (now 32 years old) struggled, it was Pistorius who got the first call to try and fill the void left vsLHP.

2061: 282/391/436/826, 4 2b, 7 hr, 20 runs, 30 rbi, 29 bb, 45 k in 163 at-bats

Pistorius has hit the ball so well that the club has decided to give him full-time at-bats in September. Defense has never been a strength, but he is passable. He will man 3B and may have a chance to grab an every day role in the playoffs if he performs. The Jekyll and Hyde career of Daniel Okrent has led the Twins to look into other options, at least for the rest of 2061. It may still be Okrent, but who Oscar has a shot.

Signing off,
